He ain't got a boss. How about you?

Take ‘er Easy Thursday – Mojo Nixon Ain’t Got No Boss

I’ll admit it, loyal reader. I kind of thought that I might follow the tenets of Take ‘er Easy Thursday and skip writing a post for today, particularly after transcribing half of one of the interviews for the spring issue. But well, I guess I found some inspiration in listening to Mojo Nixon. Mojo has long been a favorite of mine because he is truly rock n roll.

The title of this song is probably a dream for a lot of people. I mean, who hasn’t dreamt of a situation where answering to someone is a thing of the past. The story of this song, however, is even better than the title. It really is something to aspire to. It’s hard to not feel some jealousy when Mojo sings about not being a slave and not working another day in his life. Clearly, Mojo Nixon was The Dude before The Big Lebowski became a part of the parlance of our times. He’s got the right idea, realizing that he doesn’t like his job or his boss and just riding off into the sunset. I’m willing to bet that all of us have pictured ourselves in the scene described in this song. Let’s face it: that dream is why the lottery exists.  Of course, if you do decide to call off work and go have some fun – even if it’s just for one day of playing hooky – don’t blame me if you get busted. That aggression will not stand, man.

That about wraps ‘er up for another edition of Take ‘er Thursday, don’tcha think. Wraps ‘er all up. Until next time, you take ‘er easy. I know that you will.
