Music for a film about a surfing spy

Some bands just seem like they were made for Incognito. Take WaveSauce for example. I found this band using the hashtag #surfmusic on Twitter and saw in a Twitter post that this band uses a theremin. That’s a good start. then I visited the band’s homepage and ReverbNation page and saw that the music is described as rock, surf, spyfi, pulp. It’s like they know us. How could I possibly ignore a band that describes itself this way?

So what’s my take on it. Well, it’s a bit like Man Or Astro-man? to be sure but I don’t think that’s a very complete description.   The music of WaveSauce is like the soundtrack for a movie about a surfing spy…directed by Ed Wood. The theremin gives it a spacy quality while the guitar provides the surf sound as well as a sound like you might hear in a black and white 60s spy movie. This band keeps its songs pretty short. Before you’ve heard all of the songs on the band’s ReverbNation page, and you’ll probably want to hear them all again because this band is not only unusual but also pretty catchy.

Back in the late 80s there was a Portland band called The Fabulous K-Tels that played awesome surf music. Very high energy.
